The only thing more exciting than participating in (and styling/planning) a surprise wedding proposal is having it published! For those of you who know me, you know that while I may work in sales, the majority of my creative brain power is focused on my second job: wedding planning. For the last 3 seasons, I’ve been an assistant and an intern, helping out with weddings and planning sessions – and just this year, I was hired as an official wedding planner for Kaella Lynn Events (Engaged? Looking for planning and styling for your bespoke event?! check us out HERE). Even when I’m not officially working on an event, I have weddings on the brain – so you can imagine how excited I was when a longtime college friend asked for my help executing the perfect surprise proposal for his intended fiancée at the Claremont Hotel Club & Spa.
Photographed by the talented Simone Anne (she’s a GEM, check her out HERE) this proposal was an act of love – and it shows, in every frame. We built out a custom table runner from pages of love stories; symbols of their journey together – locks from paris, their initials forged in iron – graced the table that held the vintage ring box; and every small symbol that could be integrated into the design was synthesized with the overall theme. From all of the tiny styled details (gold and blue for our alma mater, her favorite love song playing in the suite) to the flowers by one of our favorite florists, Natalie Bowen Designs, this entire event was perfect for the couple – and as I stood by and watched two people take a HUGE step towards the rest of their lives, I couldn’t help but be filled with gratitude for the opportunity to have participated in the very lovely background of their love story.
